An army captain contracted leprosy. There was no treatment for leprosy those days. He was worried sick. Then he heard that a Guru in the neighbouring country could heal leprosy. So the captain set off with his retinue in horse chariots, loaded with gifts for the Guru. He thought the Guru would feel his pulse, check his eyes and tongue and write a list of medicines.
However when he reached the Guru’s house, a servant came out and said that the Guru told him to take seven dips in river Jordan. The angry captain turned back to go. “I have better rivers in my own country to take baths,” he said. However, his servant said, “Sir, if the Guru had told you do a difficult thing, will you not do it?” So the captain decided to give it a try. When he came out of the seventh dip, he was completely cured. Faith healed him.
God promises us eternal life only if we put our trust in His only Son Jesus Christ who came to this world as a human being, lived for 33 and a half years, was killed on the cross, came back to life on the third day, went up to heaven and promised to come back to earth and take those who believe in Him to heaven. It is so simple. You don’t have to work hard for your salvation. Just trust in Jesus.
