Bingo was a baby elephant. He was caught in the jungles and brought to a temple. He was tied to a tree with an iron chain around his leg. Bingo was very sad. He shook his leg and tried to break free but he could not. Every day he struggled. He was left to roam for a short while and then chained, which he hated. One year, two years, he tried daily and finally gave up trying to break free.
Bingo grew up to be a big six year old majestic elephant. One day a little bird sat on his head and said, “Bingo, you are so big. You can break the chain and be free.” But Bingo said, “No, I cannot. I tried so much. I could not. Now I am resigned to my fate.” “No, Bingo. That was years ago. Now you have grown up. You are strong. You can do it. Just try.” Bingo got some confidence. He tried once, twice, thrice. Hurray! The chain broke off and Bingo ran away to the forest and to his freedom.
Never give up trying. Whether it is bad habits or sin or circumstances that strangle you. Keep on trying and one day you will be free.
