A little boy was watching the waves of the sea going over a mound of sand and flowing over the other side. It left many little fish jumping on the sand, fighting for their lives. He felt sorry for them, picked them up one by one and put them back into the sea and watched them wriggle away happily, amidst the waves. Then he smiled a big smile.
A passerby watching the little boy said, “All through the beach so many fish are dying. What difference does it make to save a few?” The boy saw the one little fish in his hand and replied, “But it does make a difference to this one little fish.”
All over the world there is so much suffering and sadness. We should not become exasperated and discouraged by seeing that. We should do whatever we can in our own place. Tiny drops make the ocean. If we are faithful in a few, God will entrust us with greater things.
