“Go and sin no more” (Jn 8:11)
“The lips of an adulterous woman drip honey and her speech is smoother than oil; but in the end she is bitter as gall, sharp as a double-edged sword” (Prov 5:3,4). Rightly is adultery called the scarlet sin, because it literally kills the person. This sin originated in Genesis and ends only in Revelation. Your beauty, instead of becoming an asset, can become your greatest enemy and wreck your life. Once you taste adultery it can become addictive and you need to free yourself from its shackles. Don’t cheat yourself saying that some people have unusual grace in that area. “My grace is sufficient for you,” is for all (2 Cor 12:9).
The road to immorality is a process. You don’t fall instantly. It starts with dissatisfaction at home, the routine and the humdrum. You seek excitement and start a honey-dripping conversation with a man. Then your specch turns smoother than oil. The man is sliding into your net and you quickly pull the string. The thrill and the excitement of how men fall flat at your overtures encourage you to flirt with more men and lure them to bed, increasing the number of skeletons in your store room. Do you realize what you are doing? You are killing the souls of men and killing your own soul in the process. Don’t think it is impossible to turn from your promiscuous lifestyle. We have beautiful examples of such women in the Bible who found eternal life.
For Rahab, it was business. She didn’t think it was impossible to turn away from such a degrading lifestyle. “By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe” (Heb 11:31). If Jericho had believed, God’s grace could have accommodated the entire city into His Kingdom. But it was only this lone woman who chose to believe. She started practicing the fruit of the Spirit, self-control. She got married decently and became the foremother of Jesus.
Jesus said, “Tax-collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God.” They listened to the preaching of John Baptist, repented and believed (Mt 21:31,32). A woman who openly lived a sinful life in the town wept at Jesus’ feet. He appreciated her faith and forgave her many sins (Lk 7:36-50).
With Christ all things are possible. Believe and come to Him. Why should your soul go to hell?
