Who cares?
Reading: John 8:1-11
“When the Lord saw her, His heart went out to her
and He said, ‘Don’t weep’ ” (Lk 7:13)
Most women feel that they are born to suffer. And when they suffer they think, “Who cares for me?” Well, here is a comforting truth: Jesus Cares!
Jesus cares for crying women. When the widow of Nain was weeping for her dead son, He felt her sorrow. He comforted her with the words, “Do not weep.” Life was ebbing away for Ishmael and when Hagar watched him die slowly she began to sob. God heard the boy crying and showed her water (Gen 21:16). Hannah was weeping because of the constant provocation at home. But God lifted up her head and filled her with praise (1 Sam 1). When Jesus saw Mary and others weeping, He too wept (Jn 11:35). Jesus asked Mary Magdalene why she was crying and blessed her with joy unspeakable (Jn 20:15). Jesus cares for you. Don’t cry.
Jesus cares for sinful women. If you are caught in the web of sin and struggling to come out, take heart. A woman caught in adultery was thrown in front of Jesus. He did not pronounce a punishment, He only pronounced forgiveness. He gave her another chance (Jn 8:11). He did not condemn her. He saved Rahab and the Samaritanwoman and gave them new life (Josh 2; Jn 4). He gives you chances because He cares for you. Go and sin no more.
Jesus cares for sick women. A sick woman touched the hem of His garment. Jesus said, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace” (Lk 8:48). Twelve years of suffering ended in a moment. Note the relationship — You are His daughter. Note the requirement — faith. Note the response — Peace. Believe, pray, take treatment. If you are not healed, you are still in His hands.
Jesus cares for troubled women. A woman anointed Jesus with a costly ointment. She was rebuked harshly by some who were present there (Mk 14:5). But Jesus came to her rescue. This poor woman did not fight back. She had someone to fight for her. He will do the same for you.
Jesus cares for sidelined women.Leah was humiliated and unloved. But God chose her to be the foremother of His Son.
Truly God cares for women!
