“Don’t be afraid” (Mt 10:31)
“Of late I went through many problems, like a difficult delivery, sickness, etc. A pastor who came to pray for me said that I have some demonic activities in me. I am now troubled and scared. What do I do? I am a believer,” telephoned a young mother.
Quit worrying. Be assured that there is no demonic activity going on in you. Problems and sicknesses are part of life. All of us suffer. That should not be attributed to demonic activity. You must tackle the problems and take treatment for your sickness. Most problems get solved by themselves. God’s children need not be afraid of demonic activities (Num 23:23).
It is true that in the last days some will abandon their faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons (1 Tim 4:1). But if you have not left your faith then do not worry. Regularly read and meditate your Bible. Do not be slack in your prayer life. Grow in faith every day. If you are regular in your private devotions it will be easy for you to recognize the “doctrine of demons.”
Demons do not directly come and teach us. They take hold of some half-baked preachers, not strongly grounded on the Word of God, who are hypocritical liars. When they tell you that you have demonic activity, they know it is not the truth. They try to sidetrack those who know the truth. Do not entertain such people.
God has said that He will never leave us nor forsake us. He is God with us, “Immanuel.” If that is so, how can demons disturb us? I do not deny the presence of demons and their activities. We are admonished, “Put on the whole armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes ... In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one” (Eph 6:11-16).
Faith is the foundation of Christian life. So let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Heb 12:2). By faith we win. Simply go on trusting God for everything. Never let your faith be shaken. “The just shall live by faith” (10:38).
