Sunny Woman
Reading: Judges 5:24-31
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength” (Mk 12:30)
Let’s see some more aspects of the Sunny Woman today —
Deborah and Barak returned from the battle with banners flying; but the conclusion of their victory song was love for the Lord: “May all who love You be like the sun when it rises in its strength” (Judg 5:31). The sun is not satisfied with its morning sheen. It rises to its brilliance. Our love for the Lord must reach its full strength. Gradually we must weed out all that the Lord hates in us and become totally, 100%, dedicated to the Lord.
Can we trust the sun to rise in the morning? Oh yes. That’s the dependability of the sun. “As surely as the sun rises, He will appear” (Hos 6:3). Can people count on us? Are we faithful, especially to bless them? “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Heb 13:8). We should not be like shifting sand.
People may change. Today they may be good to us and tomorrow they may turn against us. But we should show the same goodness to them as ever, just like our Father who “causes the sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous” (Mt 5:45). The sun doesn’t selectively shine for some people. “If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax-collectors doing that? And if you greet your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect” (Mt 5:46-48).
One more lesson we learn from the sun is that we should not compare ourselves with others. “The sunhas one kind of splendour, the moon another and stars another, and star differs from star in splendour” (1 Cor 15:41). The sun may appear brighter than the moon or stars, but all have “splendour.” God has made us unique. I need not try to be like a man or another woman. I must be myself. I must discover my potential and talents. I must run in the path God has ordained for me like the sun (Psa 19:5). I must fulfil the heart desire of God who made me as I am. He makes no mistake. He is the master craftsman and designed me for the purpose He created me for. I will love myself as I am.
I will be a Sunny Woman for God.
Yet another aspect of the Sunny Woman awaits you tomorrow.
