1. When you arrange things one above the other, put the heavier and broader things at the bottom.
2. Do not leave expensive items on the window sill.
3. Do not leave things at the edge of the table.
4. Never leave the needle or pin on the cot or seat though you may plan to retrieve it within a few minutes. Somebody may sit on it.
5. When you remove your specks, never leave them on places where people sit.
6. See before you sit.Otherwise you may sit on dangerous or breakable objects careless people have placed.
7. Do not trust anyone immediately.
8. Do not open boxes or cartons upside down.
9. Read labels on bottles and instruction manuals before using
medicines or appliances. Don’t go by what you know or think or what others say.
10. Neighbors, friends and relatives are costlier than money. Don’t be stingy with them.
11. If you ride pinion, hang your legs on the left side of the bicycle. Otherwise vehicles passing by closely may hit at your knees, vehicles may crash on you when you get down and when the cyclist gets down his feet may hit you.
12. Leave suitcases closed and air bags, school bags and hand bags zipped up so that insects won’t go in and reside. Upturn your shoes before wearing them for the same reason.
13. Tumblers with bottoms narrower than the top are bound to be unsteady. Avoid purchasing them.
14. Serve the main dish to the left of the plate (or leaf) and additional dishes to the right so that your hand need not have to cross the plate everytime you take the additional dish. Keep water to the left.
15. When you buy a sari, or any such item, open it up in the shop itself and inspect for flaws. Check the working condition of goods purchased wherever possible. Keep guarantee cards & bills safe.
16. Habitually note the number of the hired vehicle or transport when you leave them.
17. Count the number of your luggages whenever you travel. Count when you alight.
18. While packing a suitcase, pack heavier things towards the backbone. Pack books with their back to the backbone wrapped in a
polythene bag so that when you leave the suitcase on its back the pages will not be damaged. Place books or Bible in handbag with the back to the bottom so that the pages will not be damaged.
19. While packing your chappals for the journey, pack sole to sole and insert inside chappal case. That way you don’t have to touch the soles while packing or unpacking.
20. When you have to stay in a hotel, check the doors and windows for holes and plug them. Miscreants do that to peep through. In a hotel after bath fill the bucket with water. Anytime the tank may run dry.
21. When you purchase a ticket for travel, immediately check the date. Clerical errors are common. Especially if it is the wee hours of the morning, date is easily confused.
22. It is wiser to leave your income in two boxes in two places. In journeys give half the money to your spouse. If you travel alone divide the money and leave in two places. Leave one set of clothes in your spouse’s bag when you travel together. Invest
your money in two banks or finance companies. Even if one goes bankrupt you always have another half.
23. Powder your face before dressing up so that the spray won’t show on your dresses.
24. Oil your feet to minimise them getting dirty.
25. Write the ‘To’ address below the midline of the envelope to avoid it being stamped.
26. You will save a lot of time by finishing the job in your hand instead of leaving it half done, before taking up the next work, even in small household cores.
27. Don’t throw sharp objects like needles in the garbage can as such. Put them in a box or pack in paper before disposing so that those who clear the garbage may not be harmed.
28. Don’t give eatables to children without permission of their wards.
